Identify the Highest Memory Capacity Your System Can Support

For Windows users, the Command Prompt can reveal your system's maximum RAM capacity using the command below. The output will be in kilobytes, but you can convert it to gigabytes by dividing the result by 1,048,576.

wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices


In the example provided below, the maximum RAM capacity is shown as 67108864. This amount ÷ 1048576 64 GB



The command also indicates that the motherboard has two memory slots (or memory devices). To determine the maximum RAM capacity per slot, simply divide the total maximum RAM capacity by the number of slots.

In the example above, dividing 64 by 2 results in 32 GB per slot

This means you can equip each slot with up to 32 GB of RAM, allowing for a total capacity of 64 GB on the device.
